August 2024 Medical and Surgical Outreach

In a remarkable display of commitment to public health and community well-being, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in partnership with the Onome Omobolaji Obada Foundation and United Lagos, organized a transformative Medical and Surgical Outreach at the Military Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos, from 12th to 16th August 2024.

This five-day event, which started at 9 AM daily, provided much-needed healthcare services to residents, touching hundreds of lives with quality medical interventions. The outreach featured an array of activities tailored to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community:

Health lectures to educate attendees on preventive care, managing chronic illnesses, and adopting healthier lifestyles.

✅ Comprehensive medical checkups for the elderly, offering personalized attention to age-related health concerns.

✅ Expert consultations for dental care, addressing oral health issues, and ensuring brighter, healthier smiles.

✅ Specialized eye care services, including screenings and treatments to improve vision and prevent avoidable blindness.

✅ Critical surgeries to address medical conditions and improve quality of life for many patients.

✅ Free distribution of essential drugs, ensuring attendees had access to the medications they needed for ongoing care and recovery.

This outreach underscores the power of collaboration between government, non-governmental organizations, and community-driven initiatives. It reflects Gov. Sanwo-Olu’s dedication to improving the health and well-being of Lagosians, particularly those in underserved communities.

The event also highlighted the vital roles played by the Onome Omobolaji Obada Foundation and United Lagos, whose support and resources brought essential healthcare closer to the people who need it most.

Through such programs, the administration and its partners are building a healthier, more inclusive Lagos where every individual has access to quality healthcare, regardless of their background or status.

As the smiles of beneficiaries lit up the Military Hospital in Ikoyi, it was clear that this initiative was more than just an event; it was a beacon of hope, healing, and a testament to the transformative power of compassion and community.

Together, we continue to pave the way for a healthier and stronger Lagos!
